5 GENERATIONS OF OPTICAL INNOVATION
In the late 1800's, A.P. and August Erker became leaders in optical design and expert frame craftsmanship. Over the course of 5 generations, the family business grew from a simple retail store in downtown St. Louis into a global design house of premium eyewear. Founded nearly 1.5 centuries ago, we are the oldest company in the US still owned and run by its founding family.
An Erker Upbringing
Immersed in the family business at a young age, Jack Ill and Tony grew up knowing that the responsibility of continuing what their ancestors had started would someday fall upon them. Beginning their journey as business and optical professionals, their father, Jack Erker Jr., introduced them to the retail stores and factories early on. From there, the 5th generation paved their way, studying the business and working their way up to the top. In the future, the brothers will pass the reins unto their children, just as their ancestors have for generations.
MAKING THEIR MARK
Building Upon an Iconic Legacy
With an unwavering dedication to their craft, the 5th generation of Erkers aim to uphold and build upon the legacy of their ancestors. Since taking over their family business in 2001, Jack Ill and Tony expanded into the world of wholesale eyewear, launched a new eyewear brand, and introduced a new brick-and-mortar location to the St. Louis area.
